How to prepare and care for your treatments

Injectables

Before Your Appointment

A little preparation goes a long way toward a smooth treatment and beautiful results.

  • Avoid anything that may increase bruising or bleeding for 5–7 days before your appointment, including alcohol, aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, vitamin E, and certain supplements, unless medically necessary or otherwise directed by your healthcare provider.
  • Arrive with a clean face and no active skin infections, cold sores, or irritation in the treatment area.
  • If you are prone to cold sores, please let us know in advance. Preventive medication may be recommended.
  • Please reschedule your appointment if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or feeling unwell.

After Your Appointment

Some mild redness, swelling, tenderness, or bruising can be completely normal following treatment and typically improves within a few days.

For the first 24 hours:

  • Avoid touching, rubbing, or applying pressure to the treated areas.
  • Remain upright for 6 hours following treatment.
  • Avoid strenuous exercise, alcohol, saunas, and excessive heat for the remainder of the day.

Your Results

Your results will continue to settle and develop over the next 1–2 weeks. Be patient as your treatment takes effect and your final results emerge.

Have a concern? Significant pain, blanching, or any unusual or concerning symptoms should be reported to our office immediately.

Microneedling, Morpheus8, Lumecca IPL & Solaria CO2

Before Your Appointment

Preparing your skin properly helps support a smoother treatment and optimal healing.

  • Avoid sun exposure, tanning, and self-tanners for at least 2 weeks before your appointment.
  • Discontinue retinoids, vitamin C, active acids, and exfoliating products 3–5 days before treatment.
  • Arrive with clean, makeup-free skin. Your treatment area should be free of irritation, open areas, or active infection.
  • Certain medications and medical conditions may increase skin sensitivity. Please disclose all medications and relevant health information during your consultation.

After Your Appointment

Your skin is actively healing, so gentle care is key. It is normal to experience redness, swelling, warmth, tightness, and peeling for 5–7 days or longer, depending on the depth of your treatment.

For the first 48 hours:

  • No makeup or strenuous exercise.
  • Keep your skin moisturized with a gentle, occlusive product as directed.
  • Do not pick, scratch, or peel the skin—even if it begins to flake.

During the Healing Process

  • Avoid retinol, vitamin C, acids, exfoliants, and other active ingredients for at least 3 days after treatment, or as otherwise directed.
  • Avoid sun exposure completely while your skin is healing.
  • Once your skin has recovered, apply broad-spectrum SPF daily and continue diligent sun protection.
  • A cooling compress may be used to help soothe warmth, itching, or discomfort.

Your Healing Matters

Every skin type heals differently. Follow the personalized aftercare instructions provided by our team for the best possible results.

Please contact us immediately if you experience signs of infection, significant or worsening pain, or any unusual or concerning symptoms.

Facials, Dermaplane, Chemical Peels

Before Your Appointment

A little preparation helps ensure your skin is ready for treatment and allows us to personalize your experience.

  • Arrive with clean, makeup-free skin. If not, we will take care of that for you.
  • Avoid harsh facial products, exfoliants, and active ingredients for 3 days before your appointment.
  • Please bring a list of your current skincare products, medications, and any known allergies so your esthetician can tailor your treatment appropriately.

After Your Appointment

Your esthetician will provide personalized aftercare recommendations based on your treatment and your skin’s needs.

For Chemical Peels

  • Use gentle, soothing skincare products for the first week following your treatment.
  • Avoid picking, peeling, or exfoliating any flaking skin.
  • Once your skin has fully recovered, you may gradually return to your usual skincare regimen as recommended by your esthetician.

When in doubt, keep it simple: gentle cleansing, hydration, and following your esthetician’s recommendations will help support a healthy recovery and beautiful results.

Spray Tan

Before Your Appointment

A little preparation makes all the difference for a smooth, even, long-lasting glow.

  • Exfoliate 24 hours before your appointment, paying extra attention to dry areas such as the elbows, knees, and ankles.
  • Avoid oil-based scrubs and products, which can create a barrier and interfere with the solution.
  • On the day of your appointment, arrive with skin free of lotion, oils, deodorant, perfume, and makeup.
  • Avoid shaving or waxing the day of your tan.
  • Wear loose, dark clothing to your appointment to help protect your fresh tan.

After Your Appointment

Give your tan time to develop for the most even, beautiful results.

For the First 6–8 Hours

  • Avoid water, sweating, and tight clothing for 6–8 hours, or as directed based on your specific solution.
  • When it’s time to rinse, use lukewarm water only—no soap.
  • Gently pat your skin dry rather than rubbing.

Maintaining Your Glow

Your color will continue to develop for approximately 24 hours after your appointment.

  • Moisturize daily to keep your skin hydrated and extend the life of your tan.
  • Avoid exfoliating, long hot showers, pools, and saunas.
  • As your tan naturally fades, it will gradually become lighter. Keeping your skin well hydrated will help maintain an even, natural-looking glow.

Glow tip: The key to a beautiful spray tan is simple—prepare, protect, and moisturize! ✨

Weight Loss

Before Your Appointment

Your consultation is all about creating a plan that fits you, your goals, and your lifestyle.

  • Complete all intake forms before your appointment, including your medical history, current medications, and previous weight-loss efforts.
  • Arrive well-hydrated and avoid heavy meals immediately before your visit.
  • Lab work may be recommended before or after your consultation to help ensure your treatment plan is safe, appropriate, and personalized.
  • Be prepared to discuss your goals, lifestyle, nutrition, medications, and relevant health history with your provider.

After Your Appointment

Your personalized plan may include medication, nutrition, hydration, movement, and lifestyle recommendations. Consistency is key to achieving safe, sustainable results.

Supporting Your Progress

  • Stay well-hydrated throughout the day.
  • Prioritize adequate protein intake to support muscle mass and overall health.
  • Follow your medication and dosing instructions exactly as prescribed.
  • Mild side effects, such as nausea or decreased appetite, may occur when starting treatment and often improve as your body adjusts.

Ongoing Support

Follow-up appointments are an important part of your journey. Regular visits allow your provider to monitor your progress, assess how you’re responding to treatment, and make adjustments when appropriate.

Have a question or concern? We’re here to support you. Contact our office if you experience persistent or concerning side effects or have questions about your treatment plan.

Laser Hair Removal

Before Your Appointment

Proper preparation helps ensure your skin is in the best condition for a safe, comfortable, and effective treatment.

  • Avoid sun exposure, tanning, and self-tanners for at least 2 weeks before your appointment. Your skin should be as close to its natural tone as possible for optimal safety and results.
  • Shave the treatment area 24 hours before your appointment.
  • Do not wax, pluck, or use hair removal creams for 2–4 weeks prior to treatment. The hair root must be present for the laser to effectively target the follicle.
  • Arrive with clean, product-free skin—no lotions, oils, deodorant, or makeup on the treatment area.
  • Discontinue retinol 3–5 days before your appointment. Retinol can increase skin sensitivity and may raise the risk of irritation, burns, or hyperpigmentation during laser treatment.
  • Please let us know about any new medications, especially antibiotics or medications that may increase photosensitivity.

After Your Appointment

It’s normal to experience mild redness or a sunburn-like sensation immediately after treatment. This typically resolves within a few hours.

During the First 24–48 Hours

  • Avoid sun exposure, hot showers, saunas, and strenuous exercise.
  • Do not pick, scratch, or exfoliate the treated area while the skin is sensitive.
  • Use gentle skincare and apply SPF daily.

Between Treatments

  • Treated hairs will gradually shed over the next 1–2 weeks.
  • Avoid waxing or plucking between sessions. Shaving is permitted.
  • A series of treatments is recommended for optimal results because hair grows in different cycles, and the laser is most effective during the active growth phase.

When to Restart Retinol

Wait 5–7 days after treatment before restarting retinol, or up to 10 days if your skin is particularly sensitive.

Only resume retinol once:

  • Redness has completely resolved.
  • Your skin feels calm and comfortable.
  • There is no lingering heat, tenderness, or irritation.

Glow tip: Consistent treatments, proper sun protection, and following your pre- and post-care instructions are key to achieving the best possible results.
